Who Are We?

The Boston Communalist Initiative (BCI) is an organization of like-minded individuals advocating for communalist ideals within the city of Boston. We believe that through bringing together our communities on the local level and building upward, we can establish long-lasting change that will enable a better future for all. We are environmentally minded, community oriented, and anti-capitalist.

Our Vision

We believe in a Boston where the average resident is empowered to take control of their lives and participate in decision-making that directly affects them. We believe in an interconnected web of tenant unions, neighborhood councils, worker co-operatives, and mutual aid resources that provide the basic needs and protections for residents of the city. We believe in a sustainable ecosystem and economy that exists outside of capitalism and the government that upholds it, providing for our own and modeling a world that could be.

How Do We Do It?

We plan to be a resource to connect people with existing projects while providing the resources and education to help residents start there own. We will initiate our own projects and facilitate their management to ensure they are of benefit to all residents of the city. We will support people as best we can and promote mutual aid within our communities. We will advocate for and uplift the voices of the city’s residents when those in power fail to hold up their needs.
